Schooling Shows at Belvoir Farm

Mike and Marilyn host a number of unique schooling shows at Belvoir Farm during the year. Wanting to create shows that were economical with A quality, well-dressed jumps that would get both riders and horses ready for the bigger shows, they set about constructing a facility and program that accomplishes that goal... and more.

With entry fees at $15/class and a maximum daily amount of $60 for unlimited number of classes/divisions, Belvoir's monthly shows have become a big hit in the Aiken equestrian community - drawing participants from novice riders and very green horses to experienced event ers, fox hunters and show jumpers tuning up for their next big event.

"I drove down to the show from Virginia, and I'm real happy to be here," said Hughes. "I have a number of horses that I've got from Mike, and they're doing very well showing and jumping. Mike always gives the best shows. ... He's very relaxed, and he helps you with all the courses." Amanda Hughes

All shows are held on-site in a well-groomed arena for the hunter divisions and a lovely new grass field for the jumpers. The jumps are "A" quality and set at easy distances. You don't have to push your green horse or riders down the lines just to make the strides. Belvoir's jumps are set so that number of strides doesn't matter. You can actually let your green horses relax and learn - instilling confidence for the next level.

Horses and riders also get to enjoy a steady stream of country/western music that keeps the atmosphere relaxed and those "show nerves" at bay. Mike also mans a mean grill and there is always a casual party at the end of the day just to say "Thanks for coming!"
